Disney Half

California Dreaming

This past weekend you were kind enough to invite me out to meet the infamous Thad Pryor and then to be your date at Natalie and John’s wedding. We were lucky to be able to spend 4 days and 4 nights together this time. And breaking the trip into two halves made it feel even longer than it actually was. However, it’s never long enough.

One Year!

One year ago today, was the first day of our first half marathon training, the first day of this blog together, and the beginning of what would lead us to be where we are today. It amazes me how fast this year has flown by and where we are in our relationship today. We truly have had such an amazing year together – it makes my heart pitter patter. We have grown together, we have learned so much more about each other, we have been through ups and downs but coming out as strong as ever. We have loved more than we have ever loved and will continue to grow our love together. The past year we have traveled all over the U.S. to spend time with each other and see each other. And even though you live in Chicago and I live in NYC, we have been lucky enough to see each other fairly often (even though it is never often enough). You make me so happy and one day we will live in the same city. Right now though we are taking one step at a time and we both know we will be there for each other no matter what and want to do what is best for us in the long run since that is what we are in this for.

We say “I love you”, “You are the best”, “You are my everything” all of the time that the meaning sometimes is lost. But John I want you to know you really are the love of my life and my life would not be complete without you in it.

I love you, J. Simon.

Time for half marathon #2 training!!!

Invited Back!

This past weekend I was lucky enough to be invited back to the Casa de Letzelter.  The last time you invited me to your home things were very different between us – or at least we pretended that they were.  This time there would be no pretending.

While the weather wasn’t great, everything else was.  We ate big and drank bigger, but balanced that with spinning one day and a homemade boot camp the next.

All in all, the weekend went by too fast.  It was nice to be able to spend Sunday together but it seemed too soon to be leaving when the time came. It always does though.

Rose: Being with you again

Thorn: Rainy Weather

I am so in love with you.

I am so in love with you.

What Matters Most

I return to this blog/website/tumblr with a familiarity that makes me feel as if it hasn’t been over a month since my last posting on here. That familiarity is an illusion.  So much has happened over the past month that has both tested our relationship and made it stronger.

What hasn’t changed, and never will, is that you are what matters most to me.  You mean more to me right now than anything has ever meant to me.

Thank you for all that you are, and all that you do. You are so good to me.

$MONEY, MONEY, MONEY$

Our first bank account together!! Let the money and love keep multiplying! This is a big step - it will be interesting to see what we actually do with this money. May we use our money wisely and for things that make us happiest. Any bets we lose…this is where our money goes. To Brianna & John’s first bank account together.

I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND!

I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND!

Best Vacation Yet

Our trip to Colorado has been one of my favorite trips with you yet. Since we don’t live in the same city we want our time alone when we get to see each other and this trip we didn’t get that. My mom, Gianna and Kelly, Gianna’s friend, were all part of this vacation, too. However, we had 6 days together (sadly, our longest yet) and we made every second together count and got to enjoy our alone time more than we expected to.

It was great to finally show you all the summer activities I have grown up doing in CO. We took a road trip from Denver to my house in Basalt, experienced the hokey 4th of July parade in Aspen, hiked Crater Lake, biked to Woody Creek, ate Ajax truffle fries (they really are the best) and I can’t forget to mention our unforgettable trip to The Regal bar - just to name a few. We ate and drank a ton! We figured out that shots of Everclear  make us go a little overboard in the best way possible. We laughed and loved and only had one ‘dainty’ tiff. I loved this past week with you. Every second of it. Thank you so much for coming out with me. I know it wasn’t the easiest decision but I think we made it more than worthwhile.

To our next trip to Aspen - ski season - ready or not…

Six Amazing Months

Despite being miles apart we have made the past 6 months full of love, laughs, and great memories. We try and see each other every chance we get and make those times special and worthwhile. Unfortunately, leaving each other never gets easier.

In the past 6 months together, we have ran a half marathon in Disney World, laid on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, spent many of days roaming the streets of NYC, boated on Lake Michigan in Chicago, watched J&T tie the knot in Linville, NC, drove from Denver to Basalt and hiked and biked in Aspen, Colorado.  Also, you have met almost my entire family and have spent countless hours with them and I finally met your parents and Jane. Man, oh, man have we had an eventful half of a year traveling together. I truly cherish every one of those trips we have spent together and look forward to the many more to come. Hopefully, soon we will be able to leave the trips we do take together back to the same city.

Everyday I fall more and more in love with you, John Simon. I am so lucky to have you in my life. Thank you for the most amazing past 6 months. I look forward to what is to come in the next half of this year and beyond.

Family Time

Last weekend you came in town for James Graduation. While I like to pretend that you came in to hang out with me, the fact that you brought your whole family with you makes it hard to believe.

Our time together got a surprise start when I was able to come to NYC on Wednesday (the day before you were coming to Chicago) for a job interview. Realistically this “interview” could have happened another time, but the two and a half weeks apart had felt too long already. In the end it proved to be as much of a tease as it was wonderful. I returned to Chicago wishing we could fast forward to the next day and your arrival.

Eventually Thursday evening came and I was able to go pick up the most beautiful girl in the world from the airport. From there we went and quickly met your over served family for a quick hello and then some drinks at the hotel. Then off to bed for some good vibrations.

Friday morning we moseyed on up to Northwestern in the morning to go to the Commencement speech at the football stadium. While you sweated thru your dress in the 100 degree heat, I enjoyed a bagel and the news paper in the park. And while it was great, in highsight I now wish I had spent every second with you. From there – lunch, and then back to Chicago to hang for a bit before we met my parents and sister for drinks.

We met my parents and sister for drink. Lets leave it at that…

Friday night we had dinner and Joe arrived to Chicago. It was clear that Joe makes you the happiest person on Earth, and that you are the life of the party. Dinner was fantastic and there was plenty to drink. We fought that night, but later made up.

Saturday we were up early for graduation, which seemed to last longer than it actually did. It was nice though, and it felt great to be included and involved with your family. We all returned to the city and strolled the streets until we had all strolled enough. You and I returned to our place for a quick nap and then met up with the fam later that night at navy pier.

Dinner at Riv was fantastic but will be remembered for one thing. Joe and Joe. A half hearted attempt at going out later, and you and I were back in bed.

Sunday on the boat was my rose. While the family dynamic had changed a bit, it was the most enjoyable time spent with you……

To be continued….and edited.

DAY TRIP:NYC / FAMILY WKD:CHI

Today was such a tease as you flew into NYC this morning and out tonight for an interview. However, tomorrow we are reunited for the whole weekend in Chicago. I was so excited to see you today (even though it was so short) and now I am even more excited to see you again tomorrow.

This weekend will not just be a “B & J” weekend as you meet almost my entire family (wowza!) and I meet Mom and Dad Simon and Jane. I’m not going to lie, I am nervous. However, I am extremely excited and looking forward to finally meeting your family.

To spending as much time together this weekend as possible! I love you, John Simon. You make me the happiest girl in the whole wide world!
